"Knit on with confidence and hope through all crisis"
Elizabeth Zimmermann
Elizabeth Zimmermann is to
knitting that which Julia Child is
to cooking. She was the woman
to admonished us to press on
without fear and "take charge"
of our knitting and make it our
own.

Over the time I have knit I have
often refered to her book
Knitting Without Tears not only
for technical advice but in
seaching for the spirit of knitting
itself. If anyone ever had it, she
was the lady. She is missed.
For those that do not knit the feeling is a bit hard to explain,
and for some who even do knit never reach the place. I call
it my zen place, others call it "zoning out" but no matter
what you call it, it's the medatative rythym of pattern and
production that is so satisfying and so challenging. It's what
draws us away from other things and keeps us on the
search for the perfect yarn store in any town we might
travel or scanning the interent reading of the knitting of
others. ( If you want to read about my knitting just click on
my blog link in the green circle.)

The other quality that astounds me about knitting is the
friendships you make in the process. It's a common thread
so to speak and it's enough to tie those with nothing else in
common together. Mind you it's even better if you get to
knit in the company of friends. I have just that sort of luck
and am blessed with knit almost weekly with my some of my
friends from our homeschooling group, and monthly with
almost all of them. I don't think that there is anything that
frees my soul more than being with these special ladies.
